Carbon Reduction Plan Information

This “Net Zero by 2050 Pathway” outlines a multi-phased plan to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, with specific targets set for short, mid, and long-term periods, focusing on transitioning to electric vehicles, energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy usage, and supply chain emission reduction.

Short-term Targets (2025-2030):

  • Transition 50% of the vehicle fleet to electric vehicles.
  • Conduct energy audits in all facilities to identify energy inefficiencies.
  • Switch entirely to certified renewable electricity suppliers.
  • Implement remote working policies for administrative staff to reduce commuting emissions.

Mid-term Targets (2031-2040):

  • Fully electrify the entire vehicle fleet.
  • Retrofit care homes with high-efficiency HVAC systems.
  • Establish engagement programs with suppliers to reduce their upstream emissions.
  • Begin purchasing verified carbon offsets to compensate for residual emissions.

Long-term Targets (2041-2050):

  • Achieve zero emissions for all direct operations (Scope 1 and 2).
  • Minimize Scope 3 emissions through circular procurement practices.
  • Invest in nature-based solutions and carbon removal technologies.
  • Obtain Net Zero certification from a third-party verifier.
